A wise person once said – be kind, everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.
It takes courage and effort to face everyday challenges from sorting through messy personal and relationship problems, to making a major life transition, to the silent struggle of fighting depression just to get out of bed in the morning.
The feedback I hear most often from people I’ve worked with tell me that I am “grounded” and “a good listener”. I think this is because I believe in meeting people where they are at and being real and authentic in my work. What matters most to you is the heart and soul of what our work together is all about. My job is to provide a safe and supportive space for you to explore these questions and use my training and expertise to provide an assessment and guide interventions for your specific needs. This is a collaborative process where we will work together to identify your goals and take steps toward improving your wellbeing.
I am a Registered Psychologist with 6 years of clinical practice in counselling and psychotherapy. I use a variety of models and techniques to address the complexity of needs that you may bring. I have experience helping people with a variety of concerns including but not limited to anxiety, depression, self-esteem, anger, child behaviour problems, grief and loss, relationship issues, life transitions, and adjusting to physical illness.
I draw from a cognitive behavioural perspective to identify thoughts and actions creating problems for you, test them out to decide which are useful or not and explore new ones to make life better and more manageable for you.
I also recognize that our experiences and relationships along the course of life can sometimes leave us feeling broken, stuck, or disconnected from ourselves and from others. I use a variety of developmental, mindfulness, and body-awareness practices in my work to address those parts of our experience that extend beyond learning new skills and changing habits of thinking. Through our work together, it is my intention that you will have a richer and more fulfilling understanding of yourself and quality of relationships with others in your life and everything you do.
I look forward to meeting with you and supporting you as you take the next steps on your life journey.
